Small things that makes one happy

Its simple to be happy ,but its difficult to be simple says the character Raghu in the movie Bawarchi.Something on same lines happened the other day.I had to take some Passport Photos ,so went to photo studio in my neighborhood, the photographer took picture ,somehow his face had some familiarness. On way back from the studio I remembered that face. The following day when I went to pickup the photos, as I parked my bike outside the studio the photographer gave a smile from the counter. As I walked upto him I asked him "Did you previously had business in other part of city ?" I told him the area . Sir you are correct ,how come you know the place. "My dear friend, around four years back when I was to fly to USA for the first time I had done my visa pictures at that place. you face seemed very familiar so I wanted to confirm. I traveled four times after that & went to same place to do my pictures there but the place was closed",I filled in. Simple Kannadiga Fellow was so very happy that I remember him. Spend next half an hour catching up with him, learnt from he that he bought a place where I will be moving soon. I don't know this person , but felt so happy, after talking with him. Even when I recollect that conversation of yesterday evening I feel so peaceful. Sometimes people related with blood don't stir these emotions in heart, like a total stranger. Iife and its strange ways ..Its indeed simple to be happy

Life Style Modifications : Solutions

The Difference between Focusing on Problems and Focusing on Solutions

Case 1
When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that the pens wouldn't work at zero gravity (ink won't flow down to the writing surface). To solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12 million. They developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, in practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.

And what did the Russians do...?? They used a pencil.
Case 2
One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the case of the empty soapbox, which happened in one of Japan's biggest cosmetics companies. The company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a soapbox that was empty. Immediately the authorities isolated the problem to the assembly! line, which transported all the packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department. For some reason, one soapbox went through the assembly line empty. Management asked its engineers to solve the problem. Post-haste, the engineers worked hard to devise an X-ray machine with high-resolution monitors manned by two people to watch all the soapboxes that passed through the line to make sure they were not empty. No doubt, they worked hard and they worked fast but they spent a whoopee amount to do so.

But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed with the same problem, he did not get into complications of X-rays, etc., but instead came out with another solution. He bought a strong industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He switched the fan on, and as each soapbox passed the fan, it simply blew the empty boxes out of the line.

Moral : a) Always look for simple solutions. Devise the simplest possible solution that solves the problems
b) Always Focus on solutions & not on problems.

MH01 Q 1011

Yesterday this Honda CBR 900 Bike at the gas station to refuel on side of my Honda Activa was center of attention of all the bike/scooter owners around, the nonchalant arrogance of the owner of CBR.
All these come to my mind as I see Valentino Rossi and Sete Gibernau duel in front of Gibernau's Home crowd. And as I write this Rossi makes a contoversial overtaking manuevere to win first race in Season 2005
