Death of a Dream

The warrior unwound bow and rested quiver of arrows with support of trunk of a tree. As he pitched his tent, the day that passed, flashed in front of his eyes. The day was the day, when a dream had died. In corner of his eyes, he could see the funeral pyre on which he had set the dead dream to fire. The heat waves from the pyre blew across his face and reminded him of the warm tears he had wept as the fire embraced the dream.

The dream was so very special to him, he had seen it conceive, grow, take shape in nurturing playground of his thoughts. All the while the dream lived; he had spent many a anxious moments, sometimes days and nights, wondering about the future of the dream. The death of the dream had lain to rest all of them.

As he spread his bedding on the hard ground, his thoughts took him to other dreams he had dreamt before, some had blossomed into reality and some withered like the one burning on the pyre. Although he had lost something very dear to his heart, his heart was at peace.
He asked his heart, “Why you are so calm, aren’t you sad at the loss of something so very dear?”

The heart replied, “You have been a constant companion, since my first beat, you and I have shared so many emotions together, that I have lost count of all the joys, sorrows, hopes and anxieties!! We have witness together many a successes and losses. We have watched together; when many a dreams became reality and some died their deaths. It’s true that today is the first time I am relaxed and at peace though I have lost something very close. The reason is, this is the first time when you have shown courage to face the loss, the courage to set up the pyre and lay down the remains of the lovely dream on it and then set it to fire. Before this you were always inconsolable and dragged the lifeless form on your shoulders in false hopes that those dreams would revive. All that you ended up was more sorrow. It was that which used to make me anxious and sad. Today I am at peace to see you at peace.”

With that conversation the warrior drifted to sleep. As the sleep took over he made a mental note of a frangipani tree fencing the funeral ground. The dream that died would be left as ashes. Its beauty and it virtues would be in the ashes he was sure.

He planned to put the ashes into the roots of the Frangipani tree and let the dream nurture the flowers of its virtue....

Biggest thing in world

In a preschool class, teacher asked the toddlers ,"Tell me what is the biggest thing in the world". First Child replied,"My Dad". Second child replied, "An Elephant". "No T-Rex is the largest",challenged the third. "A Mountain is bigger than even the T Rex , Mountain is biggest thing in whole world", fourth child challenged with smile of triumph. When teacher asked the same question to another 4-5 yr old girl in class ,"My Eye!!!", pat came the reply. While teacher could make sense of earlier reply , this one left the teacher confused as well, "How is eye biggest thing in the world" asked the teacher to the girl. The Girl replied , "My eye can see his Dad, and the elephant and the T Rex as well as the mountain. That all these can fit in my eye makes my eye the biggest thing in the world !!!"

Drink Your Tea

Drink your tea slowly and reverently,
as if it is the axis
on which the world earth revolves
- slowly, evenly, without
rushing toward the future;
Live the actual moment.
Only this moment is life.

- Thich Nhat Hanh

Had read a Sanskrit phrase about two pieces of driftwood brought together by current of ocean, and then they drift apart ...ever wondered if there is a universal soul in the driftwood, will it rue on the parting with company that gave it a momentary respite from its lonely journey. Will it cherish that time , or it will be just a moment with a difference and it will continue with its journey into the unknown ....

In span of moment

Somebody somewhere is making a victory lap as somewhere else someone is dejected on biting dust. “Honey I am home!!” somebody announces his arrival, “who is waiting for me?” someone wonders as they trudge their way home. Celebration of birth is accompanied by somebody passing away, somebody being rushed to emergency room elsewhere. At this moment somewhere someone prepared dinner, elsewhere someone enjoys lunch , and elsewhere a hungry man walks around wondered where his next meal will come from. As somewhere some convict is going to jail, someone walks out finishing sentence to enjoy freedom. If these are just a few things happening in Human world at a given moment .At a given moment in infinite universe , a Star collapses into black hole, while somewhere else another star is born , galaxies expand , galaxies contract, nuclear fission somewhere while fusion else where.
Within human body, cells are dying while new ones are born, some cell is ingesting nutrition while other is egesting waste.

Ever wondered if these diverse events occurring in concurrent mode happen in linear mode …. One event in universe at a given moment ..Think about it

Purpose of Human Life :A different perspective

This weekend got a chance to listen to stand-up comedy act of George Carlin .For raconteur George, politics, religion, advertising, life of general American public ,nothing is a out of bound topic. While other comedy acts just tickle the funny bones by their wordplay and sex jokes , this person stands out as perceptive social critic. At one end he pokes fun of elitist games like golf, which he says “is just a way for corporate to get together and fix deals to carve up public for their own vested interests”

His one observation while makes me stop and ponder, about environmentalist who claim that we need to do everything possible to save “This Planet” George observes “nothing can be more egotistical than this claim , In history of planet which is more than millions years, the planet has seen worst happening than this recycled the entire system and started afresh. All that the environmentalists care is about so called Human race, but not having Human race doesn’t mean end of life on this planet life shall continues with or without human race” . “Why all the fuss about the plastic waste ,maybe the nature just wanted Human race to be here to create plastic and once nature has enough of plastic, it will flush the human kind from face of earth”
